How do I know If I have bedbugs?

Bedbugs are a parasite of birds and mammals, they are small, oval brownish insects that range in size depending on their instar stage. An adult bedbug is the size of an apple seed and get as small as 1 mm. Bedbugs get brought into homes or establishments, they are hitchhikers. They live close to their host, usually within 20 ft or so. They are commonly found in or around the bed (hence the name) they can also nest in cracks, outlets, baseboards, headboards, closets, mattresses, box springs and headboards making them hard to detect.

Often, people that have bedbugs will not know for certain, they usually wake up with bites on their body, some people have a reaction to these bites and others do not. These bugs usually feed on their host usually at night few times a week but can go long periods of time without feeding at all, up to 12 months without feeding.

These bugs can be very difficult to eradicate! The best way to handle this is to call a professional pest control company. They should be able to provide you with the information and treatments you need to resolve the problem.

*Please take note: Try to avoid DIY treatments, this can make the problem much worse. The insecticides offered at your local store will not solve your problem, it will make it worse. Bedbugs will avoid those treated areas and go elsewhere close by. The hired professional will advise you to do some pretreatment prep work in order to get the best results. Although this can be overwhelming, try your best to follow all the instructions thoroughly. This will greatly improve your outcome.
